MGMT 442 - International Project Management

Objectives

This course provides the knowledge students need for planning, implementing, and controlling international projects successfully. It covers cultural differences impacting project management and moves through the skill set needed by project managers in a global setting.

Students should be able to manage any international project up to a certain complexity and size (budget related) successfully.


Content

The content of the lecture includes, but is not limited to, the following issues:

  • Key factors for project success in a global environment
  • Poject work in international organisations
  • Planning and control cycle
  • Generating requirements and determining the operational success
  • Designing a project schedule
  • Assigning resources and costs
  • Team building and motivation
  • Managing cultural change
  • Controlling progress
Additional issues will be included according to the current development in literature and practice, to the changing industry demands for international project managers and to the need of the students.
